In October 2016, the Cook County Board enacted two ordinances affecting all businesses located in Cook County, raising the minimum wage and mandating the provision of sick leave for most employees. These ordinances took effect on July 1, 2017.

As a home rule community, Northfield is empowered to opt out of the Cook County ordinances if the Village Board finds it appropriate. Please take the time to complete THIS SURVEY, as it is intended to provide information to the Board concerning the impact of the ordinances on local businesses. While your participation in the survey is voluntary, it will be important to the Board in evaluating this issue. When the Village Board holds its hearing on the opt-out question, all interested parties will be encouraged to attend and participate.
