This September and October, the Village Hall Art Gallery will be featuring art by Tom Jennings. Tom has lived in Northfield with his wife Ruth since 1977. He has three children, Cathy, Stephen, and Michael, all graduates of New Trier High School. Tom is a retired counselor, teacher, and coach for Chicago Public Schools.
Tom has served the community on the Northfield Community Life Commission and Architectural Commission for many years. He was also the President of the Northfield Baseball Association and served on the Boards of the Winnetka and New Trier Hockey Clubs and the Winnetka Caucus.
His inspiration to paint came from his mother, who was an oil painter. He started painting soon after retirement and took classes taught by Tom Jones at the New Trier Extension and also at the North Shore Art League and Old Town Art Center in Chicago.
Tom works mainly in acrylics using bright colors whenever possible. While most of his paintings are representational, some are abstract. His travels have provided many ideas for his subject matter. He has participated in a number of group exhibitions across the North Shore.
Please join us on September 21 for Tom’s gallery opening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Village Hall. You can also view the exhibit any time Village Hall is open, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM.
