Water Main Work
The Village is working on a number of water main improvements around town. This includes transitioning to a better-functioning main on Birchwood Lane, water main and storm sewer replacement on Lagoon Drive, and valve repair and replacement at the Reservoir. Storm sewer work on Lagoon Drive is being done to alleviate flooding.
This is the last of three years of roadway work included in the infrastructure referendum. The first two years the Village took advantage of an unusual construction market, due to the lack of state roadway work, which resulted in a tremendous savings. This work was estimated to cost $5 million, but will cost the Village less than $3.5 million.
The following streets will be improved this year: Ash Street, Bosworth Lane, Drury Lane, Glen Oak Drive, Graemere Street, Harding Road, Ingram Street, Maple Street, North Bristol Street, Oak Street, Old Willow Road, Orchard Lane, Pine Street (East), Southridge Terrace, Thackeray Lane (north of Bosworth), West Linder Alley, and Willow View Terrace.
5/11/2018- The contractor completed fine grading and placed HMA binder course in the Starbucks and Northfield Restaurant alleys; curb and gutter and sidewalk removal and replacement on all streets except for Maple St and Harding Road; all curb line structure adjustments. Next week we anticipate the contractor to pave HMA surface course in the alleys behind the Northfield Restaurant and Starbucks; mill and pave the front parking lot for the Northfield Restaurant; remove all pavement, grade the stone base, and place pavement in the Post Office and Library Parking Lots; stripe the parking areas of the alleys, Post Office, and Library; milling the 308 Happ Parking lot and the Bosworth subdivision area. Expected neighborhood impacts next week include delays for local vehicular traffic during working hours; the alleys behind the Northfield Restaurant and Starbucks are closed to all traffic; the Post office and Library parking lots will be closed Monday – Wednesday to parking for the completion of the HMA reconstruction work; access to the entrances will be maintained at all times.
